Experience

My name is Richard Crane and I'm a Colorado native. I graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law and have been a practicing attorney in the state I love since 1981. As a former Deputy District Attorney I gained vast amounts of trial experience. I also previously worked for Farmers and State Farm, so I am very familiar with the inner workings of insurance companies and insurance law. Since 1985 I've been handling personal injury and insurance cases and currently serve on the Colorado Trial Lawyer's Association Insurance Bad Faith Committee.

If you have been injured, you will get only one chance to get the compensation you deserve. One of the most important decisions that you make in your lifetime will be the lawyer you chose to take on this task. I have experience fighting for people just like you. Myths About Lawyers

Myth #1: All Attorneys are the same.

Actually, training and experience differs tremendously among attorneys. Some attorneys may have a wealth of experience drafting wills, handling probate, and looking out for people’s best interests in real estate transactions.

But would you want one of those lawyers representing you in your personal injury case?

If you have been injured or wronged by an insurance company you need an attorney who has experience fighting for people’s rights in front of a jury.

Myth #2: All lawyers are skilled in the art of negotiating.

Unfortunately, this is not true at all. If you’ve ever dealt with a big corporation, you know they can be intimidating and play hardball. They do not mess around when it comes to losing money.

You need a lawyer who can negotiate from a position of strength. That means someone who prepares your case and is willing to file suit and go to trial if necessary to get you full and fair compensation.

In actuality, most personal injury and insurance cases are settled out of court. But if you select a lawyer who prepares your case as if it will not go to trial, you may not get the full value of your claim. I have experience fighting for people just like you in a courtroom in front of a live jury. I can win in a courtroom and because I am prepared to do so I am also prepared to negotiate from a position of strength.

Myth #3: All lawyers are personally involved in the cases they handle.

Not true at all. Some lawyers have so many cases and clients they can hardly keep them all straight! Those are the lawyers who are too busy to return your call, let alone put in the appropriate time to build your case.

I don’t work that way. I am completely committed to my clients. I give them the personal service they deserve when fighting against big insurance companies and for what they deserve.

Myth #4: You don’t need an attorney.

That is just what the insurance companies want you to think! They have people on their staff whose sole job is to pay out the least amount possible. They have lawyers that will talk you into accepting far less than what you deserve. Negotiating with them without an experienced attorney is going to leave most of the money in their pockets.

Of course when you hire an attorney you will have to pay a fee. But insurance industry studies show that claimants represented by an attorney receive more in settlements than those who do not have representation. If you have a significant injury, you deserve significant compensation. Having someone like me on your side will ensure that you can wage a strong fight against those who are poised to pay as little as possible.
